President - After his bachelor in Business Economics in Leisure and three years of work experience in coaching and dynamic project management, Mathijs Post started in 2009 with his master in Social and Cultural Antropology at the K.U. Leuven. It was here that he discovered the world of Model UN and attended numerous international conferences. Vice-president - Nele Verbrugghe joined the K.U. Leuven Model United Nations Student Association in 2010, encouraged by her Model European Parliament experiences back in high school, and has found this one of the best decisions she ever made. She took a flying start, attending her first 3 conferences  within one month. The MUN adventure so far has been very enriching, both on a professional and personal level. She highly values the international networking, and believes travelling implies learning, since diversity broadens the mind. Eager to take her next steps in the MUN world,  she decided to combine her law studies (and active student life) with a position in the board of KULMUN. And she might even continue down this road, because a career in the area of international law has been her dream for years.

Secretary - Frank Hoogendijk

Treasurer - Thomas Devenyns

Applications Officer - At the age of five, Roeland Van Cleemput dreamt of being Luciano Pavarotti. Sadly, Roeland realized he couldn’t sing. He decided to exploit his other abilities, went to study law and got elected as a student representative. As a result of winning the Council of Europe essay competition, he was awarded a meeting with Mr Barosso and Mr Gorbatsjev. This meeting inspired him to bring people together and to build a world worth living in, true to the ideals of the United Nations. He tries to do so by putting his zeal, energy and wit to good use as the Kulmun secretary.

A highly motivated law student, Roeland aspires to work at the North Sea electricity grid project.
He is fascinated by international politics, business economics, rhetoric and renewable energy sources. In his spare time, he enjoys having dinners with friends, quizzing and playing parlor games.

Jeroen Stevens

PR - Sara Labib is an ambitious law student who is passionate about world politics, economics, international law and human rights, it was thus only natural for her to join KULMUN. She has lived in Egypt and in Belgium and her experiences in both countries have made her appreciate her love for all things international and for the comparative study of law, culture and religion. She has participated in several MUN conferences and always values the contact with the many intelligent and motivated students from all over the world that she’s had the chance to meet. Sara loves debating and she doesn’t shy away from controversial issues. She is particularly interested in the Middle-East and the Arab Spring and hopes to one day contribute in helping to turn totalitarian countries into free societies. It is her intention to pursue a career in which she can combine her interest in international affairs with her passion for the protection of political rights and fundamental freedoms.

PR - Joanna De Smedt

PR - Ingmar Samyn is currently enrolled in the Research Master Program in Law at the University of Leuven and Tilburg, but already obtained a Bachelor degree in Classical Philology (Leuven, 2008). During that time he was an active member of different student associations and organized the First International Student’s Day for Classical Students (Antwerp, 2007). His interests vary fromPlato to Nietzsche, from ancient history to modern society and from ethics to art. He gave several lectures on ancient history and philosophy and hopes to improve his speaking skills even more while gaining experience during MUN conferences. In high school he played soccer at the highest competitive national level, but gets the same refreshment out of a thrilling discussion. He considers the opportunity to be a member of an open society in which one can discuss international political issues with people of other countries and other cultures, one of a kind. He looks forward to expand his horizon, to connect with other people and to broaden his knowledge in interesting discussions.

Matthias de Bauw

Matthias De Bauw is a very enthusiastic Law student, who has put a great effort in K.U.Leuven Model United Nations from the beginning of its existence. Further, he is also a very concerned with student representation in the university community, and has been a very active members of VRG, the law students association in Leuven. In high school, he was a member of Globelink's scholar's parliament. This experience was his motivation to commence with Model United Nations. In one year's time, Matthias has attended MUNs as a delegate and chairperson, and he played a key role in the National edition of the KULMUN conference. For this year, Matthias is the president of the association. He will do whatever in his power to bring KULMUN to the next level. After his studies in Leuven, he hopes to pursue his dream to go studying in the United States.

Irina Botea

Having a vast experience in Model United Nations Conferences composed out of more then 10 participations at international level, Irina Botea occupies the position of vice-president in our association. Born and raised in Bucharest, Romania, Irina was during her Bachelor years the students representative three years in a row, member of her Faculty’s Council and editor-in-chief for the department’s magazine. After graduating in International Relations and European Studies at the University of Bucharest, Irina is currently starting her second masters in the field of Anthropology at the Catholic University of Leuven, in Belgium. In 2008 she got contaminated with the so called MUN virus and several conferences later she thought it would be appropriate to give something back to the MUN community since she received so much from it. Spreading the MUN values around the world may sound impossible but with a bit of perseverance, determination and a wonderful team besides her, she believes we can achieve anything.

Jeroen Stevens

Jeroen Stevens rolled into KULMUN as if it was his lifes destination. After being elected as representative to the Student Council in his high school and being a member of the Globelink's Scholar Parliament, joining the world of Model United Nations seemed like the most logical step at the beginning of his studies in Leuven. After his studies in Political Sciences both in Leuven as in Sakarya, Turkey, Jeroen Stevens is planning on commencing his Master Studies in European Politics next year at the University of Leuven. This way he would like to combine his interests in both Turkey and the Middle Eastern Region with his interests in European Foreign Policy. After his studies in Leuven, he would like move to Turkey to continue exploring Turkish and Middle Eastern politics.
